The Real Optimus Prime

Transformers are the unsung heroes that saves us from voltage mayhem.  We are able to maintain a better quality of life because they exist.  If you've ever experienced being shocked by someone or something due to static electricity, then you my friend have experienced voltage mayhem at a minuscule level.  The standard voltage required to power your appliances, lights, and devices in your home is 115- 250 V.  Before that voltage enters into your home, it can range from anywhere to 400,000 to 600,000 volts!  Imagine plugging in a device with that kind of voltage, I can imagine you wouldn't be here right now to read my post.  Transformers have the ability to reduce the amount of voltage that comes into your home while increasing the current, thus making it safe to use everyday fixtures.

Next time your on a long highway or passing through a rural area, look out to see if you can spot a transformer standing alone on a hill side.  The transformers that run into your home can be located on a neighborhood telephone pole.  Next time you turn on your lamp or roll over and turn off your alarm, remember that transformers made all of this possible.
